Jordan Chamberlin

I study rural development and economic growth in the developing world, with a particular focus on smallholder agriculture and rural household welfare in sub-Saharan Africa. Areas of recent research include: smallholder access to land under evolving land institutions in sub-Saharan Africa; the efficiency of market intermediation services; the provision of infrastructure and other public goods; and small town development. In addition to traditional microeconomic and econometric research methods, I favor theoretical and empirical approaches which are explicitly spatial in nature, including spatial econometric methods and geographic information science.
