Julia Erhart was appointed to teach full-time at Flinders in 1996, after gaining her PhD from the University of California (Santa Cruz). She is a Fulbright Fellowship recipient. Her major research interests are non-fiction and oppositional media, the ways in which various media depict gendered subjectivities, and representations of the historical past. A committed and passionate teacher, her accomplishments were recognised in 2012 when she received the Vice-Chancellor's and Faculty awards for Excellence in Teaching. Institutions Julia has taught at include the University of California (Santa Cruz), San Francisco State University, New York University, Brown University, and Technische Universitat in Chemnitz. Born and raised in New York City, Julia worked for New Line Cinema, Paperjacks (a division of Pocket Books), and as a freelance film editor before becoming an academic. She currently lives in the Adelaide Hills.
