Research Associate, Simon Fraser University

Dr. Julia Smith's research centres around the politics of health and global health governance. As a Research Associate with the Global Tobacco Control Research Program, at Simon Fraser University, Dr. Smith contributes to projects on the political economy of the the global tobacco industry and Indigenous led action on tobacco. She has authored over a dozen peer reviewed publications, as well as the book the Role of Civil Society in the Global Response to HIV/AIDS. Research interests include sexual and reproductive health, tobacco industry, community development, human rights, peace building and feminist theory. A Rotary Peace Fellow Alumni, Dr. Smith has worked in Africa, Europe and North America.
