Karen Sibert, MD, FASA, is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology and specializes in thoracic anesthesiology, including anesthesia for procedures on the lungs and esophagus.

Dr. Sibert received her A.B. degree from Princeton University, and graduated from medical school at Baylor University College of Medicine. She completed residency and fellowship training in advanced clinical anesthesiology at the Yale University School of Medicine.

At UCLA, Dr. Sibert is the first-ever Director of Communications for the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, where her work focuses on website development, internal department communications, and showcasing the department's research and education initiatives to the world outside the hospital walls. Dr. Sibert has published opinion columns in external media including KevinMD and the New York Times. She is active in professional medical associations, and is currently president of the California Society of Anesthesiologists.
