Karima Joy

I am a registered social worker and PhD Candidate at the University of Toronto at the Dalla School of Public Health in the Social and Behavioural Health Sciences Division. I research how bereavement experiences are accommodated in Canada with a focus on workers in precarious employment.

I am driven to contribute on the ground with people in private practice and addressing systemic issues through research, education, and advocacy. I have been working in mental health since 2006, specializing in grief and bereavement since 2008. Currently, I am the Program Lead for the Grief Education Program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education's Continuing and Professional Learning, University of Toronto.
