Kat is a marine biologist focusing on the systematics and ecology of deep-sea squids, and global biodiversity of cephalopods in general. Originally from the US, where she has worked at the Smithsonian and New England Aquarium (and collaborated with the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute), she now lives in New Zealand and runs the AUT Lab for Cephalopod Ecology and Systematics (ALCES).
