Katja's primary research and teaching focus is on physical activity and sport participation and its relation to health- and social inequity. Over the past ten years she has focused on the prevention on non-communicable diseases through physical activity and sport for development initiatives. She co-founded the Journal of Sport for Development and consults the World Health Organization.
