Professor den Heyer has taught prospective educators and graduate students at universities in Canada and the US since 2004. He publishes frequently on student and teacher conceptions of what makes social change possible, their different ways of storying Canada's past, present, and future as well as investigating alternative practices of curriculum theory and pedagogy. Dr. den Heyer's work in these areas has appeared in the leading international journals of history education, educational philosophy, curriculum studies as well as in professional association publications for teachers. Since 2011, he has served as the Editor-in-Chief of Canada's leading social studies journal, Canadian Social Studies.
