Kezia Dugdale was appointed as Director of the John Smith Centre at the University of Glasgow in 2019. The John Smith Centre promotes a positive vision for representative politics, encouraging the next generation of representatives to see politics as one of the most effective ways to pursue change. Kezia leads and oversees the Centre, and is responsible for all aspects of strategic development. She also lectures in public policy at the University of Glasgow.

Before that, Kezia served as leader of the Scottish Labour party between 2015 and 2017. She was a member of the Scottish parliament between 2011 and 2019 for Edinburgh and the Lothians. Prior to becoming leader, she served as the party's deputy leader and education spokesperson.
