PhD Student at the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition, Deakin University

Laura Marchese is currently completing her PhD at the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN) at Deakin University. Her research covers a range of important issues in nutrition science, with her current studies focusing on the diverse range of plant-based diets and plant-based foods we consume, how they are measured in research, and how they affect cardiometabolic health across the lifespan.

She was awarded a Deakin University Postgraduate Research Scholarship and a CSIRO R+ Top-Up Scholarship for her PhD candidature and received the 2022 NSA-NNI Emerging Researcher Award. Laura completed a Master of Human Nutrition in 2020 with research focussing on ultra-processed foods, and contributes to local government and non-government food insecurity organisations.
