Laura Marchese is currently completing her PhD at the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN) at Deakin University. Her research covers a range of important issues in nutrition science, with her current studies focusing on the diverse range of plant-based diets and plant-based foods we consume, how they are measured in research, and how they affect cardiometabolic health across the lifespan.
She was awarded a Deakin University Postgraduate Research Scholarship and a CSIRO R+ Top-Up Scholarship for her PhD candidature and received the 2022 NSA-NNI Emerging Researcher Award. Laura completed a Master of Human Nutrition in 2020 with research focussing on ultra-processed foods, and contributes to local government and non-government food insecurity organisations.
