David T. Zhang Professor of the Practice of Law, Duke University

Lawrence G. Baxter is the William B. McGuire Professor of the Practice of Law at Duke Law School. He was professor of law at the University of Natal, South Africa before joining the faculty Duke in 1986. Baxter left Duke in 1995 to become a senior, then executive vice president and Chief eCommerce Officer at Wachovia Corporation, where he built an emerging businesses group and the bank’s online financial services business. Baxter returned to Duke in 2009 as a professor of the practice. He teaches and researches in the fields of banking regulation, derivatives and financial markets.

Lawrence's passion (and vice) on the side is antique British cars. He owns two Austin-Healeys (a BN2 and a BJ8) and a Jaguar E-type and would have more of he had a bigger garage.
