Associate Dean for Equity and Justice, University of Pittsburgh

I am an educator, writer, and sociologist. I currently work at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Education as the Associate Dean for Equity and Justice. My research and writing focuses on the ways that schooling often acts as a conduit for societal disadvantage, as well as the potential for education to be a tool for liberation. I write about the narratives we tell about our success and failures that often perpetuate inequity.

Prior to working in the academy, I was a junior and high school teacher, a journalist, and a state-level policymaker.
