Leonie Rutherford (PhD, Australian National University) is an Associate Professor in Writing and Literature at Deakin University and is a specialist in media with a special focus on children and youth. Her research interests include media practices of children and youth, audience research, and influences of media on children’s digital literacy, health, and educational outcomes. She is currently leading an ARC Linkage Project, ‘Discovering a ‘good read’: Pathways to reading for Australian teens', in conjunction with researchers from QUT, the University of Canterbury (NZ), and partners from the Australian book and library industries.
