My research is positioned in the social sciences field of social welfare practice, policy and education. This includes building knowledge about how family-based practice enhances the wellbeing of children, young people and their families, and using this knowledge to influence social policy decisions and social welfare education curricula. My focus areas include family support, youth work, prevention and early intervention dimensions of the child wellbeing continuum, child neglect, and workforce issues such as professionalisation, the personal-professional nexus, and developing practice competence and wisdom in novice workers.
