Professor and Head of Department of Political and Conflict Studies, Nelson Mandela University

Lyn Snodgrass is Professor and Head of Department: Political and Conflict Studies in the Faculty of Arts at the Nelson Mandela University. She has a doctorate in Conflict Transformation and Management.

Her research - trans-disciplinary at the interstices of Politics, Psychology and Conflict Resolution - interrogates deep-rooted, intractable conflict. Her current research focus is the role of collective emotion and communal memory in the manifestations of violent social conflict.

As scholar-practitioner she specialises in conflict management interventions, consulting and training in conciliation, mediation, negotiation and conflict resolution systems design with an emphasis on Africa. She has facilitated conflict management and analysis training for the United Nations' peacekeeping forces and security personnel - UNMISS and UNHCR - in South Sudan and Ethiopia respectively.
