Dr Chambers specialises in impacts, adaptation and vulnerability of Australian flora and fauna to climate variability and change. She is a project leader for the COSPPac project on the use of traditional knowledge in weather and climate forecasting in the Pacific and the citizen science project ClimateWatch.

Other roles include the National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility Terrestrial Biodiversity Steering Committee, field editor for International Journal of Biometeorology and lead author on the National Marine Climate Change and Adaptation Report Card.

Lynda was also a contributing author to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Fourth Assessment Report (Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability).
