PhD Candidate in Free Speech, Democracy and Social Media, Deakin University

Madeleine Hale is a PhD Candidate in the Deakin Law School and Sessional Law Academic at Monash University. Madeleine’s research explores the interplay between free speech, democracy and social media, with a particular focus on content moderation and censorship.

Before commencing her PhD, Madeleine worked as a Corporate Lawyer at Herbert Smith Freehills. More recently, she worked as part of the social media team at Network Ten’s The Project. Madeleine graduated from a combined Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degree with Honours from Monash University.
