Lecturer in US history, University of Reading

I am a lecturer in modern US history and I specialise in American political history; US foreign policy; US Presidency; Cold War; role of domestic politics in US foreign policy making (especially public opinion and media); Sino-American relations; Sino-American culture in the US; Climate Change Diplomacy, Public Diplomacy.

My latest project is on US foreign policy and climate change. I received initial funding to work on Obama and his climate change rhetoric and how this was used as a tool of soft power in order to collaborate and compete with China. Two academic articles are currently being reviewed for publication. I am now looking at US foreign policy and climate change as a national security challenge in the post-Cold War era. The Arctic is one of the key areas of interest.
