Her role involves responsibilities in research, teaching, enabling and knowledge transfer. Her research focuses on the fundamental engineering underpinning the manufacturing of different therapeutics and, in particular, investigate the effect of the hydrodynamic environment on biological systems.

Martina graduated in 2000 with a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Pisa and decided to move to London for a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at King’s College London where she focused on improving reactors for chemical drugs production. She was then appointed Research Associate in the department of Biochemical Engineering at UCL, where she was subsequently appointed Lecturer (2007-2013) and Senior Lecturer (2013-2019).
