PhD Candidate in Social Data Science, University of Oxford

Mary is a PhD candidate in Social Data Science at the University of Oxford. Her research applies natural language processing to climate change communication on social media.

Mary has additional experience with the OECD as a data science intern and within the European tech start-up space as an AI product manager.

As part of the LEAP research initiative, she worked with an interdisciplinary team of experts to investigate social media discourse around climate-related discourses on Twitter. Primary methods included: topic modelling, network science, sentiment analysis, toxicity detection.

Previously, she has used data science and natural language processing to compare the manifestations of privacy values in French, German, American, and British media discourses related to GDPR.
