I'm an evolutionary biologist interested in how and why sexual and social traits have evolved across the animal kingdom.
Most recently, my research has focused on the evolution of masturbation in primates, exploring when it evolved, and whether it has any potential adaptive functions.
I've also worked on the evolution and function of the baculum (or, penis bone) in mammals, as well as researching various sexual behaviours in extant mammals, from same-sex sexual encounters in naked mole-rats, to nocturnal erections and masturbation in chimpanzees.
