Matthew holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology from Western University and a Master of Arts in the Psychological Basis of Kinesiology from Western University.

He is currently a Ph.D. student in the Population Physical Activity Lab at the University of British Columbia, where he is investigating the role of exercise in the treatment of substance use disorder.
