PhD dissertation research on weaponized sexuality in Japanese media. Academic background includes the study of Japanese popular culture, fandom and fan cultures, video game narratives and the illusion of choice, transhumanism, science-fiction, comics, and horror films.
Have presented conference pieces at the Shaking the Foundations Conference in Montreal and the International Conference on Games and Narrative at Waterloo University. Have also worked as a university lecturer on the subject of Japanese animation (anime).
