Senior Lecturer in Sociology, University of Glasgow

I am Senior Lecturer in Sociology in the School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Glasgow, UK. My recent work has focused on issues of sexual orientation, gender identity and human rights, and on developing the sociology of human rights. A particular recent focus is the Commonwealth, as explored in a volume co-edited with Corinne Lennox, Human Rights, Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity in the Commonwealth: Struggles for Decriminalisation and Change (London: School of Advanced Study, 2013; available free online at: http://commonwealth.sas.ac.uk/publications/house-publications/lgbt-rights-commonwealth)

I am author of The Age of Consent: Young People, Sexuality and Citizenship (Palgrave Macmillan, 2005). I am co-editor of several volumes expanding the sociology of human rights which were co-edited by the Convenors of the British Sociological Association Sociology of Rights Study Group, including: Patricia Hynes, Michele Lamb, Damien Short and Matthew Waites (eds.) 'The Sociology of Human Rights', special issue of Sociology, journal of the British Sociological Association, Vol.46, no.5, October 2012.
