Michael Hauser is an agro-ecologist development researcher based in Kenya. He currently serves as principal scientist at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics, ICRISAT. As theme leader, Michael coordinates the global research group entitled ‘Markets, Institutions, Nutrition and Diversity Research’. This group uses social science methods, computer models and foresight analysis to study decision-making of people and food system behavior in the drylands. Their research contributes to understanding social innovation and supporting poverty reduction and access to food. As associate professor, Michael teaches postgraduate courses and supervises students at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna. Until 2017, Michael was Director at the Centre for Development Research (now Institute for Development Research) at the same university. He co-chaired and chaired the European Alliance on Agricultural Knowledge for Development, in short AGRINATURA.
