I am a Post-Doctoral Fellow cross-appointed to the Waterloo Institute for Complexity and Innovation at the University of Waterloo and the Cascade Institute at Royal Roads University. My background is in conflict and security, with longstanding interests in global governance, peacebuilding, state formation, societal collapse, and the political economy of violence. Across these topics, I have employed insights from the study of complex systems to important issues in the social sciences. At the Cascade Institute, I currently lead a research project on Global Polycrisis and produce educational tools on complex systems thinking. At the University of Waterloo I have instructed courses on foreign policy, conflict resolution, and a specialized seminar on complexity and global governance.
