Michael is a Researcher within the Population Dynamics, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (PDSRHR) research unit at African Population and Health Researcher Center.
His main areas of research interests include maternal health, reproductive health, and quality of care. His Ph.D. research topic looks at the quality of post-abortion care in health facilities in Kenya
Michael holds a Masters degree in Social Statistics from the University of Nairobi. and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Public Health at University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. Prior to joining APHRC in 2009, he worked in several other institutions among them Population Services International as a Senior Statistician.
Michael is driven by the desire for quality scientific research geared towards improving the well-being of Kenyans and Africans at large; providing not only evidence but also key highlights on possible and plausible solutions to current health and health systems challenges in Africa.
