Associate Professor, Deakin University

Michelle Harvey is Associate Head of School (Curriculum) in the School of Life and Environmental Sciences at Deakin University, and a medical entomologist. She specialises in the biology of blowflies, with particular interest in fly strike, maggot therapy in chronic wounds and the application of insects to provide information in the forensic sciences (forensic entomology). She is a passionate STEM educator and Ambassador, and believes in the power of tangible, gruesome science to excite and inspire. As an educator she has research interests in the development of critical thinking skills and authentic assessment.
