Michiko Weinmann

Associate professor (Languages/TESOL education), Deakin University

Michiko Weinmann is an Associate Professor in Languages Education, and Co-Convenor of the Australia-China Relations and Higher Education research network at Deakin University, Melbourne. Her research focuses on multilingualism, teacher education, Asia curriculum, and internationalisation in Higher Education. Bringing together education and cultural studies perspectives, her work seeks to inform the reframing of curriculum, pedagogy and teacher practice through approaches that are inclusive of multilingual and transnational perspectives, knowledges and new identity narratives. Current projects examine the perceptions of Higher Education stakeholders of the role of plurilingualism in teaching and research, and how educators and researchers navigate the impact of shifting geopolitical relations between Australia, New Zealand and China. She is a member of the Discover Education Editorial Board. Weinmann's forthcoming co-authored book, The Asia Literacy Dilemma: A Curriculum Perspective, will be published by Routledge in October 2022.
