What I have achieved is due to a combination of collaboration with gifted colleagues and students, generous contributions from industry and parastatal institutions, Grace, good fortune, support and advice from seasoned academics and editors, and fear-driven hard work and sacrifice. I honestly cannot take credit for any good in this. Special mention must go to Di Kilpert, who re-sculpts much of my cack-handed writing.
My name is Thinus (or MJ), not Professor.
Pronunciation: TEA-nis, like Venus with a T, the h is only decorative.
