PhD Student, Kinesiology and Health Studies, Queen's University, Ontario

Currently I am a second year PhD student in the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies, Queen's University, Canada. I hold a BA (Hons) degree in Comparative Literature and Literary Theory from Rostov State University, Russia, and an MA degree in Sociocultural Studies of Sport, Health, and the Body from Queen's University, Canada. My research interests focus on social and political dimensions of health in cross-cultural and global contexts. In 2015-2016, I was an editor at The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Chapter at Queen’s University, where I pioneered the development of The e-Journal of Healthcare Improvement and Patient Safety. As a research fellow at the Museum of Healthcare in Kingston ON, I undertook research and wrote a manuscript on Frederick Banting’s contribution to Canada’s scientific reputation and insulin development. As a health educator and journalist, I ran a blog for The Breast Cancer Society of Canada. In 2017-2019, I was involved in the international SSHRC-funded project “Finding Home: Migration, Placemaking and Research-creation” (Canada – Australia – United Kingdom) as a research assistant. In addition, I have extended experience working as a teaching assistant for HLTH 101 “Social Determinants of Health”.
