Senior Lecturer in Security Studies, Massey University

My teaching experience consists of coordinating courses and lecturing postgraduate and undergraduate course at Victoria University of Wellington (2002-2012) and Massey University since 2013. In that last fourteen years, I have been responsible for the coordination of diverse courses at undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Victoria University of Wellington (Religious Studies and School of Government) and Centre for Defence and Security Studies. In addition to teaching the main theoretical course for Master of International Security Studies at Massey University and teaching courses on religion, identity, modernity, and Islam in Victoria University, I have been taught the advance officers course in NZDF Command and Staff College in Wellington (2005-2017) and Royal Brunei Armed forces in Brunei since 2011. I have been a regular advisor and speaker in various government departments, NZ Police, civil society groups (United Nations Association of New Zealand and New Zealand Institute of International Affairs), NGOs and national and international media. Due to my diverse activities and involvement with government and non-government organisations, I work with various academic units in Massey and Victoria as well as Waikato University and have extensive connection with NZDF, NZ Police, DPMC, MPI, MBI, Ministry of Justice and NZ Parliament. I have been involved in civil society programs for empowering individuals and have been an advocate for the rights of those who have been discriminated against in their communities or in intercultural societies.
