Director of the Centre for Water Advanced Technologies and Environmental Research, Swansea University

Professor Nidal Hilal (DSc Eng, PhD, MSc, PGCAP, BEng, Euro Ing, CEng, FIChemE) is the Director of Centre for Water Advanced Technologies and Environmental Research (CWATER) at Swansea University in the United Kingdom. He is also the Editor-in-Chief for Desalination, on the editorial boards of a number of international journals and a member of the advisory boards of several multinational organizations.

Professor Hilal obtained a PhD in Chemical Engineering in 1988 and was awarded Senior Doctorate (DSc) in Nanotechnology and Membrane Separation from the University of Wales in 2005. His research interests are within the fields of chemical engineering, nano-water, membrane technology, water treatment including desalination, colloid engineering and the nano-engineering applications of atomic force microscopy.

Professor Hilal has published 6 books, 21 invited book chapters and around 300 articles in the refereed scientific literature. Professor Hilal has served on and has carried out extensive consultancy for industry, government departments, research councils and universities on an international basis.
