Reader in Freshwater Ecology, University of Stirling

Nigel’s main fields of research are in aquatic ecology and management, biomonitoring techniques and landscape ecology. Current research projects focus on interactions between stressors and connectivity as a determinant of ecosystem function and biodiversity in freshwaters; plant-herbivore interactions; impacts of invasive plants; historical reconstruction of lake macrophyte communities; ecological aspects of the reintroduction of beavers to Scotland and effectiveness of different strategies for restoring lakes.
