Dr Nonjabulo P. Gule, Researcher, Department of Chemistry and Polymer Science, Stellenbosch University.

Nonjabulo was recently appointed as a Researcher in the Department of Chemistry and Polymer Science as part of the NRF Research Career Advancement Fellowship. Her research focus is on functional membranes which entail the fabrication of smart materials with applications in filter media and biodegradable peptide tissue scaffolds. She has eight peer reviewed journal articles, four of which were from her PhD work, two patents, a book chapter and some popular science articles. Nonjabulo has attended and presented in more than a dozen international and national conferences. She has been hosted on TV and radio shows and in 2013, she was named one of the Mail & Guardian Top 200 Young South Africans and the Cosmopolitan magazine added her name to the top 20 awesome women under the age of 35 for the year 2013. She also volunteers in a couple of organizations and does a lot of outreach programs in secondary and high schools.
