I am a marine ecologist working on projects with a biodiversity and conservation focus that produce policy-relevant outputs. My PhD has been on the effect of topographic heterogeneity on abyssal foraminifera, and other research activities before that included plastic pollution in the Thames Estuary and conservation of the European eel. Since 2017 my research focus has been on the biodiversity and conservation of tropical deep reef ecosystems, having worked with the NGO Nekton Foundation to explore and characterise deep reefs in the central Western Atlantic and various locations across the Western and Central Indian Ocean region. I am doing that by annotating marine imagery and collecting biological samples. As part of my work, I work together with stakeholders from host nation states to co-design research projects and co-produce outputs that can be of policy relevance.
