Paul Simon Kench

Professor, Department of Earth Sciences, Simon Fraser University

Professor Paul Kench is a coastal scientist who has focussed his career on understanding the evolution and dynamics of coral reefs islands in response to climatic variability and sea level change. He has worked extensively in the Maldives and atoll nations in the Pacific Ocean and his work has made a significant contribution to global discussion regarding the physical stability of small island nations. Graduating with his PhD from the University of New South Wales, Professor Kench has held academic positions at The University of Melbourne, Australia; the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and; is currently the Dean of Science at Simon Fraser University, Canada.
