Dr. Penny Pexman, a cognitive psychologist, is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Calgary. She is a member of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute and the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute. Her research focuses on how we derive meaning from language. She has examined language processing in typically developing children, in healthy adults, in individuals with extraordinary lexical expertise, and in clinical populations with impaired semantic or pragmatic skills. Her research is supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
