Senior Lecturer in Energy Engineering, Cranfield University

Dr Peter Clough is a Senior Lecturer in Energy Engineering at Cranfield University where his research focuses on clean H2 production, CO2 capture, and applying AI in Chemical Engineering. With his strong background in Chemical Engineering, he leads a research group whose activities are multidisciplinary and aim to develop and scale up innovative clean energy technologies.
Dr Clough received an MEng in Environmental Engineering from The University of Nottingham and went on to complete a PhD in Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London. Dr Clough is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chemical Engineers and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Association.
Dr Clough is a thought leader in hydrogen and has a proven track record of funding success and research delivery, including HyPER – a flagship £8m programme funded by the UK Government Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy to scale up sorbent enhanced reforming and construct a pilot plant for this next generation clean hydrogen production process. He has managed and led a series of successfully delivered projects totalling more than £10m in value.
