Professor of Psychology, University of Stirling

I have a first degree in Chemistry and an MSc in Intelligent Systems. My PhD thesis looked at issues of representation in neural nets and genetic algorithms, in particular the problem of coding a neural net on a genetic string.

I've been teaching psychology since 1995 and I'm principally interested in the perception of faces and what kind of representations we might use. For instance, how do we tell whether two different faces are the same or different people?

Together with Professor Charlie Frowd at the University of Central Lancashire, I developed EvoFIT, a novel holistic facial composite system.
