Climate scientist, CGIAR System Organization

Peter Läderach is co-lead of the CGIAR Climate Security and Flagship Leader Climate Smart Agriculture Technologies and Practices of the Accelerating Impact of CGIAR Climate Research in Africa (AICCRA) program, based in Dakar, Senegal. He is currently also seconded to the UN World Food Programme (WFP) as a Principal Climate Scientist on behalf of the CGIAR. Peter led the expansion of CIAT’s climate action program to Central America, Africa and Asia, with extensive work experience in more than 15 countries. He has nearly 20 years of research experience in food systems science to support developing countries in alleviating poverty, adapting to and mitigating climate change, building resilience and protecting the environment. Peter also led climate change assessments of IFAD investments plans globally and advises WFP on its climate programming. He holds an MSc in Geography and a PhD in Tropical Agriculture (summa cum laude) and has published over 70 peer-reviewed articles, many book chapters and books.
