Peter Weingart has held the South African Research Chair in Science communication at Stellenbosch University since 2015. He is Professor Emeritus of Sociology and Science Policy at the University of Bielefeld, Germany and former director of the Institute for Science and Technology Studies (IWT 1993-2009).
