Professor Qipeng Guo is a Fellow of The Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC). He formerly held a personal chair (chair professorship) in polymer science and technology at Deakin University, Australia where he led the Polymers Research Group. Professor Guo has extensive expertise in polymeric materials and engineering.
His research interests in polymeric materials include block copolymer self-assembly, nanostructured thermosets, polymer blends, thermoplastics, rubbers and elastomers, nanoporous polymeric materials, polymer composites and nanocomposites, self-healing polymers and composites, functional coatings, biodegradable polymers, green processing of natural polymers, rubber recycling, and processing of recycled plastics.
On the practical front, Professor Guo has been engaged in commercial research and development, including development of novel polymeric materials and their manufacturing technologies to meet various requirements for different applications, development of novel processing equipment and scaling-up. In particular, he has developed a new cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution for tyre recycling with industry partner VR TEK Global Pty Ltd and successfully established a pilot plant at the Deakin University Geelong campus.
