Rachel is a digital media sociologist who specializes in dating apps and a postdoctoral research fellow at the School of Health and Society, University of Salford. She investigates the implications of unexpected uses of dating apps, such as the phenomenon of Grindr tourism. Her research has also covered health practices on dating apps, gendered selves online, communication norms, and dating app profile pictures. Her work has been featured on international television and news media. She earned her PhD in sociology from the University of Manchester, her masters in gender studies from the University of Cambridge, and her BA from Columbia University.
