Emerita Professor of Religious Studies, San Diego State University

I taught at the university level for 25 years before retiring. My specializations are twofold: new religions (focusing particularly on Peoples Temple, and violence in new religions); and Jewish and Christian dialogue. I have published books and articles on both topics. "Understanding Jonestown and Peoples Temple" is coming out in paperback this July 2018; a second, revised edition of "Voices of Christianity" is also coming out this summer. A third book out this year is "Beyond Brainwashing" in the Cambridge Elements series.

I am currently Reviews Editor for "Nova Religio," the quarterly journal on new and emergent religions published by University of California Press. I'm also Co-Director of the Women in World Religions and Spirituality Project. So, I'm still pretty busy in retirement.
