I am a Canadian lawyer and Trudeau Scholar, currently working on a PhD in Law at the London School of Economics in the UK. My background is in the field of humanitarian aid and human rights: I served as Sudan Country Director for War Child Canada from 2009-2011 and conducted a multi-year research and advocacy project on International Human Rights Law and female prisoners with mental health issues in Canada. My ongoing doctoral research focuses on International Humanitarian Law and the relationship between humanitarian and military actors in international peace operations. More broadly, I am interested in how perceptions can inform our understanding of IHL's role in war.
