Postdoctoral fellow, Sexualities Project, Northwestern University

Renee M. Shelby is a postdoctoral researcher with the Sexualities Project at Northwestern University and a Visiting Fellow with the Justice and Technoscience Lab (JusTech) at the Australian National University. She holds a PhD in Sociology of Science & Technology from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Dr. Shelby studies the relationships between technology, power, inequality. Much of her work examines how surveillance and information technologies shape regulate user behavior and shape racial and gender inequality. Her publications examine issues related to gender-based violence, AI and data governance, policing and forensics, social movements, and biomedicalization.
