Richard Cowling

Richard Cowling is a botany professor at the African Centre for Coastal Palaeoscience at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa’s Eastern Cape Province.

He has published extensively – in the scientific and popular literature – on the ecology and conservation of Mediterranean climate and arid biomes. He is widely acclaimed for his contribution to the theory and application of conservation science.
