Rob is a Learning Sciences Researcher and PhD student with the Science of Learning Research Centre (SLRC), situated in the Melbourne Graduate School of Education. His master's thesis investigated evidence-based sports coaching practices, using John Hattie's Visible Learning work as a guide. Rob also holds an honours degree in psychology from the University of Tasmania, where he investigated the role of various presentations of feedback on skill acquisition.
Rob has been involved for many years as both an athlete and coach with basketball, athletics, and hockey. More recently, he has consulted with AFL clubs regarding player and coach learning environments.
