Ruggiero Lovreglio

Postdoctoral fellow, University of Auckland

I am a doctor in Civil Engineering. I hold my PhD at Scuola Interpolitecnica di Dottorato, the join PhD school of Polytechnic University of Bari, Milan and Turin (Italy). During my PhD, I have been Visiting Research Student at Lund University (Sweden) and Edinburgh Napier University (UK).

My studies embed Evacuation Modelling and Human Behaviour in FIre. During my PhD, I am investigating decision-making of evacuees by using discrete choice modelling. This goal is achieved by analysing data from stated (i.e. Virtual Reality Scenarios) and revealed preferences (i.e. Real and Virtual Reality Scenarios). I am cooperating with researchers from several universities: Lund University (Sweden), Edinburgh Napier University (UK) and University of Cantabria (Spain). Please visit for more information.

I have a Msc in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Bari (Italy). My background includes Building Science, Geotechnics and Transportation. In particular I have a basic knowledge of anti-seismic engineering, concrete and steel building and geotechnical works such as tunnels, retaining walls and foundations.

In my MSc thesis, I deepened Modelling in Transportation Infrastructures, Human Behaviour in Fire, Computational Modelling and Road Infrastructure Safety.

I am keen on programming and developing simple and useful softwares using C# and VB.NET, that you can download from my website. I also develop website and online applications and questionnaires using PHP, Javascript (Ajax) and SQL. I have also a little experience as webmaster.
